Ingredients
Method
- Use the lime wedges to coat the glasses well around the rim. In a shallow plate, combine the Mexican spice (optional) and salt. Dip the glass into the mixture at an angle and spin the glass until coated to your liking.
- In a cocktail shaker, add the lime juice, orange juice, agave syrup, water or club soda, and ice. Shake vigorously for about 10 seconds. Fill your salt-rimmed glass with fresh ice, strain the mocktail over the top. Add a lime wheel or wedge for a clean finish.
Notes
Tips:
- No agave? You can use simple syrup, maple syrup, or honey instead—just keep in mind it will slightly change the flavor.
- Want more “cocktail” flavor? Swap the orange juice for ½ oz of non-alcoholic triple sec like Lyre’s Orange Sec or Monin Triple Sec Syrup.
- Non-alcoholic tequila swap: If you want something even closer to the real thing, try a non-alcoholic tequila (instead of water or club soda) like Ritual Zero Proof Tequila Alternative or Lyre’s Agave Blanco.
- Spicy twist: Add a jalapeño slice to the shaker or a dash of cayenne for heat.
- Frozen version: Blend all ingredients with a cup of ice for a slushy-style virgin margarita.
- Make ahead: Mix everything but the ice and store in the fridge up to 24 hours. Shake with fresh ice before serving.
- Batch it: To serve a crowd, multiply ingredients by 4–6 and serve in a pitcher or beverage dispenser with lime wedges.
- Serving tip: This virgin margarita pairs perfectly with tacos, grilled shrimp, or chips and queso!
