Method
- Whisk everything together in a bowl—or pulse in a spice grinder for a super fine blend.
- Label with the name and date. Keep it in a cool, dark spot in your pantry. (*See notes for how to use your homemade au jus gravy mix).
Notes
*To Use:
- In a small saucepan, whisk together 2 tablespoons of au jus mix with 1 cup cold water until smooth.
- Bring to a simmer over medium heat, whisking constantly.
- Simmer for 3–5 minutes, until slightly thickened and glossy.
- Serve warm with roast beef, French dip sandwiches, or mashed potatoes.
Storage:
Store in an airtight container or spice jar for up to 6 months in a cool, dry pantry.Tips:
- For a deeper flavor, you can substitute part of the water with beef drippings or use unsalted beef broth.
- Add a splash of Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, or red wine at the end for extra richness, if desired.
- This mix makes an excellent base for gravies or beef stew too!
